The individual behind the alleged West Ham United Twitter leaks once revealed the correct team EIGHT hours before a crucial London derby with Tottenham Hotspur.
New boss Manuel Pellegrini denied he was ‘incredibly frustrated’ at the apparent ‘mole’, despite a report published in The Times claiming the contrary.
Social media account @ExWHUemployee has correctly ‘predicted’ the Hammers’ starting XI for several months, but told Jim White on talkSPORT there was no foul play involved – he was a fan using his common sense to piece together the teams.
He said: “I put it [the ‘predicted’ team] out at half one – the team sheets have already been exchanged at half one anyway so it’s not as if the opposition manager says ‘I can’t name my team just yet, I’m waiting for that Ex bloke to Tweet something then I’m going to start to consider my selection.’
“And what are all these clubs paying scouts for then if my Tweets are this important? I think the whole thing is ludicrous.”
However, a Tweet from October 2017 shows how the social media account correctly revealed the West Ham United team news eight hours before a Carabao Cup clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
The Hammers were due to face London rivals Spurs at Wembley on October 25 at 8pm in the last 16 of the competition.
With boss Slaven Bilic feeling the heat, the chance to get a cup victory to boost morale was desperately needed at the London Stadium.
Despite claiming to release team news an hour and a half before the game itself kicks off, @ExWHUemployee clearly released the exact team news eight hours before the Hammers were due to kick off.
After falling behind to goals from Moussa Sissoko and Dele Alli, a double from Andre Ayew and a late winner from Angelo Ogbona secured a famous win over their north London rivals.
